DSISD to make masks optional this week

At a special meeting May 20, the Dripping Springs Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved a recommendation to make face masks optional in district facilities starting May 28. This decision comes following an Executive Order issued by Governor Abbott earlier this month stating that government entities, including school districts, can no longer require face masks in their facilities starting June 4. The board chose to implement this directive sooner, in advance of graduation and the start of summer school/camps.

Dripping Springs City Council swears in new members

The City of Dripping Springs City Council convened in person for its regular meeting on May 18 for the first time since May 2020. Council member Taline Manassian was sworn in for another term in Place 1, and reappointed as Mayor Pro Tem through May 7, 2022. Geoffrey Tahuahua and Sherrie Parks were sworn in for Place 3 and Place 5 respectively.

Regional animal shelter offering discounted pet adoptions

The regional animal shelter in San Marcos is running an adoption special through the end of May. The shelter is full and they're looking for fosters and adopters to help reduce the number of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens (it’s kitten season!).

Friendship Creekside Fellowship honors first responders

As part of their ongoing commitment to support the surrounding community, Friendship Creekside Fellowship held a Family Night of Worship to celebrate local first responders. The event included fellowship, live music, worship and a BBQ dinner. C03 Cattle donated some of the meats and WETSU, a locally owned and popular BBQ Team manned the grill.

DS Chamber Ribbon Cutting: Turcotte Butchers and Delicatessen

As most of you may know by now, we are Erik and Christin Turcotte, owners of Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen. We are from the greater Boston area and have lived in this lovely community for four years. We have always had a dream of opening a restaurant, and quickly discovered since living in Texas that the Butcher and Deli shops that we were so accustomed to back home are scarce or nonexistent here. We took this realization and birthed what became our ultimate dream.
