DSISD Board to decide on masking policy

The Dripping Springs Independent School District has called a special meeting Thursday, May 20 to discus the district’s masking policy. The announcement comes on the heels of a newly hired superintendent, Dr. Holly Morris-Kuentz; and after parents spoke out against the policy at a Board meeting in April. Additionally, a group of 64 parents, which has now grown to 150, filed a letter of intent to pursue legal action if the district didn’t drop the requirement of masks on students.

Texans ages 12-15 now eligible for Pfizer vaccine

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) announced that adolescent Texans between the ages of 12-15 are now eligible to receive a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. In a news conference last week, DSHS also announced that the COVID-19 vaccine will not be included in the list of mandatory vaccines for students to attend school.

Chamber of Commerce recognizes local businesses during Star Awards

The Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce held its Star Awards event, recognizing local achievement, at Dreamland on May 13. The event, which usually takes place every February, almost didn’t happen. In fact, it was canceled until members of the Chamber rallied together to put on the event for the community.
