Regional Track Results

It was a near miss day for the Dripping Springs tracksters as they competed for slots in the state meet at the Region IV-5A meet held at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio. Only the top two places get to advance, which left six DS entries just one place short. Even two school record-setters (*) could not advance. On the good news side, DS had three entries that will be headed to Austin on May 7 to compete in the state meet. Coleman Chapman and Caleb Lopez were gold medal winners and Maddie Livingston silver. Familiar schools continued to be a thorn in our sides.

Tigers Baseball Results

The Tigers baseball team is holding on tenaciously to their second place perch in district play. They would hold off a determined effort by Alamo Heights and a good pitcher's duel to earn a 3-2 win. It looked like it might be tit for tat against Veteran Memorial as both teams opened the game with three runs. However that would be it for VM as the Tigers would collect another nine runs. A stiff north wind no doubt aided the extra base production as DS rattled off ten, including three doubles by Reese Dunn. DS was supposed to finish the week at Lehman but rain forced a reschedule to last Monday. Their final home game was scheduled to be against Seguin last Tuesday and the regular season end at Kerrville Tivy on Friday. Playoffs will begin next week.

Lady Tigers Softball wins District

The Lady Tigers softball team finished up the district race with three wins and the district title. Now it is on to the playoffs where their bi-district opponent will be Leander Glenn, a team they lost to 11-8 earlier in the year. It will be a best of three series. The first game will be there on Thursday night. Action will continue at DS on Friday night at 7:00. If needed there will be a 1:00 game at Leander on Saturday.

District 26-5A Girls Soccer All-District Selections

The 2021 State 5A Champion Dripping Springs Lady Tigers soccer team quite naturally dominated the all-district selections by the district coaches. It also means in the weeks ahead there will be more awards at the local, regional and state level. With the youth among the awardees, it is understandable why Coach Bailee Perrine can not wait for the next season to work on a repeat. The 26-1-1 team set records in wins, fewest losses and most shutouts, 24.
