The Hays County Emergency Cash Assistance Program (ECAP) successfully awarded $600,000 in free grants to 92 small businesses throughout Hays County, helping to keep doors open and jobs intact throughout the region.
Governor Greg Abbott has announced the statewide Save Our Seniors initiative to vaccinate homebound seniors across Texas. During a recent press conference in Corpus Christi, the Governor also commended the Corpus Christi Fire Department, Meals on Wheels of Corpus Christi, and the City of Corpus Christi for the success of their homebound senior vaccination program which serves as a model for the statewide initiative.
The 31st annual Wild Game Dinner has been rescheduled to March 6 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Dripping Springs United Methodist Church. Originally, the event was scheduled for Feb. 20, but due to the extreme winter weather, the event was postponed. Event organizers have now decided to offer the meals free of charge.
On February 18 as Dripping Springs residents welcomed the sunshine for the first time in 7 days, Mayor Bill Foulds, Jr. issued a special message of encouragement.
The fiesta de quince años is a celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday, obviously with its cultural roots in Mexico and throughout Latin America. The girl celebrating her 15th birthday is a quinceañera. While I am not exactly sure of the birthday, it was 15 years ago that our girl of the plant world Señorita Rosalita cleome won her first award. Today she has won 237 of the top awards in the country and forever changed the world when it comes to using the cleome in the landscape.
