Mayor addresses Dripping Springs residents

On February 18 as Dripping Springs residents welcomed the sunshine for the first time in 7 days, Mayor Bill Foulds, Jr. issued a special message of encouragement.

Dear Citizens of Dripping Springs,

We are all going through an unprecedented time of challenge this week. Never have we had multiple days of bad weather, power outages, water shortages and more. And while the weather will slowly improve over the next few days, the effects of the storm will be with us for some time.

We are doing what we can as a City. Our crews are moving debris, helping deliver water and supplies where we can, providing safe shelter for horses and livestock at Ranch Park, and more. We have a wonderful group of employees who are there with you, going through these challenges and will continue to help long after this week is over.

I especially want to take this time to thank the citizens of Dripping Springs and acknowledge the good works of our citizens who are not only dealing with their own challenges, but through it all are helping their neighbors, too.

I’ve heard and read many heartwarming stories of neighbors helping neighbors. You are making treks to deliver firewood and portable chargers to those in need. You are cooking meals for workers at senior living centers. You are using your equipment to plow your neighborhood roads. You are helping each other by providing shelter and food.

You are providing advice and at times tools to help those with bursting pipes and leaks. The United Methodist Church has been providing shelter. Businesses are providing free food to first responders and to our citizens.

Business owners are walking to their businesses in the snow and cold to make sure their stores are open to help those in need. HEB workers are there to provide needed supplies. And so much more.

This is Dripping Springs. Neighbors helping neighbors, getting through the rough times together.

Right now, we are in a crisis-mode, helping where we can. As it warms up, we as a City will look at more ways we can help. Please know my City Council members and the employees of Dripping Springs are here to support you in every way we can and will be looking at ways to help long after this is over. If you need to reach us, call us at 512-858-4725 and we’ll try to help however we can. If it’s an emergency, call 911.

In the meantime, thank you Dripping Springs for your help and spirit through all this.

I’ve never been prouder to be your Mayor. I’ve never been prouder to call Dripping Springs my home.

Stay strong Dripping Springs,

Mayor Bill Foulds, Jr.
