Last week, U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture will extend its waiver allowing schools to continue to serve nocost meals to low-income students during school closures this summer.
As an elementary school student, he struggled with English, as only Spanish was spoken in his home. He worked hard to measure up and his effort was reflected in his progress. He also helped his younger brothers and sisters, hoping they wouldn’t struggle with English as he did, praying they wouldn’t suffer the humiliation of their fellow students laughing when he mangled the English he was trying so hard to master.
Nine candidates are running for three positions on the Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees. They are (in ballot order): Kay Kizziar, Lynn Henson, Stephanie Holtendorf, Tricia Quintero, Shannon O'Connor (incumbent), Stefani Reinold, Mary Jan Hetrick (incumbent), Jeff Aylstock, and Thaddeus Fortenberry.
Sheriff Gary Cutler and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy is now accepting applications for the 2021 class. The course will tentatively start on April 8, 2021.
Dripping Springs’ population grew in the past few weeks and it made national news. Not because it is such a booming, pretty town (it is indeed) but because of the influx of four new residents. NBC’s Today Show featured the Cafferata family’s story on its morning show and they are now nationally known.
