#7 Dripping Springs wastewater discharge permit reversed

A Texas district court has ruled the City of Dripping Springs can not discharge treated wastewater into Onion Creek. The ruling was handed down on Thursday, October 29, when District Court Judge Maya Guerra Gamble reversed the discharge permit issued to the city by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) commissioners. The discharge permit was issued on February 27, 2019, to allow the city to begin the expansion of its wastewater treatment plant and address the area’s growing wastewater needs.

DSISD 2018 bond projects progressing

Remaining projects from the 2018 bond program are: expansion/renovation of the Transportation Center, construction of new Walnut Springs Elementary, renovations to Dripping Springs Middle School, construction of new elementary school on Darden Hill Road, and conversion of the old WSE campus to an Administration Building.

Hays County reports 13 COVID-related fatalities in last week

Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one COVID-related fatality; a San Marcos woman in her 80s. It was the 13th COVID-related fatality reported in the last week in Hays County. The department also reports 251 new lab-confirmed cases since Friday’s update along with 12 new hospitalizations and six (6) new hospital discharges, along with 81 additional people now considered recovered.

Curative mobile testing holiday closures

Free COVID-19 testing continues to be available in Dripping Springs via the Curative mobile testing site at “The Triangle.” The van is there every Friday through Monday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. That schedule, however, will change this week and next in light of the holidays. All Curative testing sites in Hays County will be closed December 24- 25, as well as December 31 and January 1.
