Lady Tigers tested by strong competition

It did not take long for the Lady Tigers volleyball team to remove one of their stressors for the season. Every team has a goal of going undefeated, although in most cases it does not come to pass, especially when your schedule consists of many top notch teams. Dripping Springs, beginning the season ranked third in 5A, scheduled tough to open the season and the result was an 0-3 start. The scores were close, and between good teams they always will be with the way volleyball is scored today. Someone wins a point on each serve, so it is hard for any team to get a streak going to pull away. If one has to, it is far better to lose your games to start the season than on the back end where it is one and done.

2021 Football just ahead

Here we are just weeks ahead before the Tigers take on their first game and the rest of the season. All fingers are crossed that a complete season can be made without numerous interruptions due to COVID-19 like last year. Three district opponents were unable to field a team against the Tigers. That could easily be the obstacle course again this year. For the time being we are betting on a standard year and being able to live up to the predictions of being the team to beat.

Dripping Springs High on Breazeale Cup List

A couple of weeks ago we reported the results of the UIL's Lone Star Cup which recognized total programs sponsored by the UIL. There is another similar honor for the Central Texas area UIL schools that are covered by the Austin American- Statesman. It is known as the Breazeale Cup. It uses much the same criteria as the Lone Star but only takes into account the results of the sports programs and ranks all schools regardless of classification.
