Dripping Springs High on Breazeale Cup List

A couple of weeks ago we reported the results of the UIL's Lone Star Cup which recognized total programs sponsored by the UIL. There is another similar honor for the Central Texas area UIL schools that are covered by the Austin American- Statesman. It is known as the Breazeale Cup. It uses much the same criteria as the Lone Star but only takes into account the results of the sports programs and ranks all schools regardless of classification.

Lady Tigers Volleyball State-Ranked

The state rankings for volleyball in 5A starts out just like it ended in 2020. Lucas Lovejoy, who has been a major thorn in the side of the Lady Tigers at the state tourney each time will sit on the top perch until someone can dethrone them. The team they defeated, Fulshear, was named second while Dripping Springs took the third spot after losing to Fulshear last year.

Opinion: Rule changes in college athletics all about the money

The can of worms we call college athletics will certainly be an interesting study in the near future. Rule changes have turned our college athletes into pros instead of the amateurs they have always claimed to be. However, that fact has been around for a long time. It is just another case of the haves widening the gap from the have nots. Most things happening in the athletic world are all about the money.
