Tigers roar past Hays Hawks

Both offenses were alive and well as the Dripping Springs Tigers hosted Hays High Hawks in the home opener for the Tigers. It was senior night and all got to celebrate the Tigers 70-42 win, which broke the three game losing streak to Hays. Each offense had the same strategy but came at it in different ways. Both tried to get the other in one on one situations where the defender could not get immediate help and each had success. One went at it methodically and the other by quick strike. Hays ran the slot T with a lot of deception which mandated the defense stay at home. The number of Tiger solo tackles shows how well they performed. The Tigers spread people out forcing the defense to spread out with them which opened up bigger gaps to cover and let their skill people go to work. The 70 points showed how well that worked for the Tigers. DS would score on 10 of 13 possessions.

Lady Tigers respond in tough tournament

Dripping Springs faced another batch of top-notch teams around the state when they entered the New Braunfels Fraulein Volleyfest tourney. They got to play teams from Houston, San Antonio, El Paso and Central Texas. After two days they had carved out a 5-1 record and pitted against district nemesis, NB Canyon to start the final day. They slipped by Canyon but could not get past Lake Travis and SA Clark. A trip over to Hays Johnson opened district play for the Lady Tigers. They shut out the Lady Jaguars.

Tiger volleyball falls in early tournament schedule

Tis the part of the volleyball season that is brutal. Teams pile over half their season into three weeks. They call them tournaments but really they are a legal way to cram in as many games as possible. Each team is basically guaranteed nine games in three days regardless of record. What one hopes is a chance to build up depth of quality while not getting anyone injured from all the repetition of chances. With today's problems with Covid, other illnesses and injuries, a good team definitely needs players with game experience to step up and not have a let down in talent. The Lady Tigers have the makings for a long run and will gain from the experience.
