Sports Opinion: Random Musings
Well sports fans, I am getting the same feeling I got during the spring sports seasons. The powers that be are back to dangling that carrot just out of reach when it comes to having fall seasons. Yes, everyone would like to go back to pre-COVID days and ignore the present situation but it is simply not going away until there is a vaccine. That is predicted to not happen until sometime in 2021. All of this calls for a huge amount of patience, a trait that many Americans have proven time and time again they are lacking. Ironically, the very people one would expect to be doing everything they can to be able to play are the very ones failing to follow the accepted steps to reduce the possibility of getting the virus. I prefer to follow the advice of those who have spent their entire career studying such things. Athletes are asked to sacrifice for the good of the team by their coaches, who have spent their careers studying their trade, so that should easily crossover to the area of our health as well. Small price to pay. We can force-feed sport seasons, but we know the virus will still be with us and it will be interesting how teams will look during the season as the infected and exposed have to be dealt with day by day and game to game. No doubt the sports world will be turned on its head for the duration of this setback.
