Dripping Springs ISD announces 2020-21 campus Teachers of the Year

Teachers of the Year are: Laurie Burton (Dripping Springs Middle School, English Language Arts/ English as a Second Language), Raquel Flores (Dripping Springs Elementary, bilingual first grade), Jennifer Franco (Walnut Springs Elementary, pre-K), Kristen Northrup (Rooster Springs Elementary, second grade), Tori Pattison (Sycamore Springs Elementary, first grade), Rebecca Smart (Sycamore Springs Middle School, eighth-grade Social Studies), and Micki Whitacre (Dripping Springs High School, Statistics/Algebra).

The Tonight Show has been a staple of late night TV for decades, think Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno in progression. It has been a very important showcase for artists of many different media, singers, celebrities, comedians and really anybody who's anybody has been featured on the show, from Sinatra to Seinfeld, to Springsteen and Mathew McConaughey.

Songwriters Festival announces dates for application submissions

2020 saw canceled music festivals, a decimated live music scene, and lost revenue for the music industry, but rescheduled shows and music festivals are returning including the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival which announced last month it will be returning to downtown Dripping Springs on October 15-17, 2021. Prospective performers are required to fill out an application to perform at the 3-day festival and submissions will be accepted from April 1 through July 1, 2021. A link to the application will be posted on the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival social channels and on the festival’s website (drippingspringssong writersfestival.com) under Songwriter Submissions.

Less than a century ago, newspapers were the singlesource of information and entertainment for people in towns – large and small – across the country. There was local news and national/ international news from the Associated Press or UPI (these feeds came on ticker-tape-like machines, so loud they were banished to a sound-proof closet next to the managing editor’s office).
