Sylvan Learning Center of Dripping Springs opened a new location March 18, 2019 right across the street from HEB, directly behind the Emergency Care Clinic. Sylvan is a tutoring service for kids of all ages, providing help with reading, math, writing, SAT/ACT prep, STAAR prep, and study skills. We also offer homework support for all subjects, from papers to chemistry to calculus and statistics.

County bond projects behind schedule

Two county projects — a new public safety building and expanded Hays County Jail — are behind schedule for completion.

During a presentation to the Hays County Commissioners Court on Oct. 22, Codi Newsom, program manager for the public safety bond program with ECM International, said the public safety building was scheduled to be substantially complete on July 25, 2020, but has been “adjusted roughly 11 months due to permitting adjustments.”

AUSTIN — The state's 10-day early voting period ran from Oct. 21 to Nov. 1 with Election Day on Nov. 5. On the ballot are 10 proposed constitutional amendments, special elections and local political subdivision elections, including those for mayor, city council, school board, municipal utility districts and other local entities.

26 counties to benefit from Padilla program

Twenty-six counties will benefit from Hays County’s decision to pilot a program that provides legal assistance to criminal defense attorneys for certain cases involving non-citizens.

At its last meeting on Oct. 29, the Hays County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to execute an agreement with myPadilla, or FJC: A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds, a nonprofit that will provide remote consultation services to all the counties within the 3rd Administrative Judicial Region, excluding Travis County.
