AUSTIN — As the worldwide threat of novel coronavirus increased, state agencies already were working together to ensure the health and safety of all Texans, Gov. Greg Abbott said Feb. 27. After a briefing from state and federal health officials on coronavirus (COVID-19), Abbott provided an update on steps the state is taking. He said the Department of State Health Services has activated the State Medical Operations Center to serve as a touchpoint for any requests from local entities. The center also ensures consistent collection, tracking and reporting of public health activities and data.

Running with Moe February 27

I was reading over some of my past running journals and remembering some of my favorite runs. I checked the back page where the miles were listed for each month for the year. I started to think how many minutes of my life was spent running. Some runners record the miles covered, how many minutes the run took, and then the average pace of the run. It almost becomes obsessive to record each run in a logbook.

Dripping Life February 27

I write at least six newspaper articles and two magazine articles every month, then there are numerous blog posts, book projects, and so forth. With all that writing it’s sometimes a struggle for me to think up good relevant topics to write about, then at other times, the topic finds me. That’s what happened this week.
