Although I hope to never have an occasion to use them again, during the current pandemic, I find myself using certain new words and phrases which have osmosed into my vocabulary because of our current war against the infectious disease called COVID-19. Depending on you experience, vocation, and outside interests, you may already use some of these words regularly…and you’re likely to know even more words in addition to what I have on my list.

Runners are often known to be obsessive about their pulse rate.  For a runner the pulse rate is used for two things.  The one that a runner will tell you about is that the pulse rate is used as a measure of the difficulty of a training run.  The one not mentioned is used as an ego booster. The average resting pulse rate of a man is 72 beats per minute, for a woman the average resting pulse rate is 80 beats per minute...

Capital Highlights May 18

AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement concerning an outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in Amarillo, where more than 700 cases were reported on May 16. The report came after the governor's Surge Response Teams conducted site surveys and testing in high-risk areas, including meat-packing facilities in the Amarillo area. Two more weeks of testing would be conducted in high-risk areas, Abbott said.
