Lady Tigers hit rough spot

The Lady Tigers basketball team has found the going to be tough in the last couple of weeks as they have dropped six straight contests. They went to the always tough Georgetown tourney and came away with four losses. They lost to Argyle 70-26, Ft. Worth Boswell 61-11, Harker Heights 42-32 and Round Rock Home School 73-38. Then it got no easier as they returned home to host district opponents NB Canyon and Boerne Champion. They fell to NBC 55-28 and BC 52-32.

It’s official: Dripping Springs 6A

The UIL completed the second round of the realignment process, announcing the cutoff enrollment numbers to divide the classifications. When the UIL published the final cutoff number for 6A, the expected move up to 6A became official for Dripping Springs. For the next two years DS will be a member of the 6A classification. Here are the official breaks for each division. 6A: 2225 and up; 5A Div 1: 1925-2224; 5A Div II: 1300-1924; 4A Div I: 880-1299; 4A Div II: 545-879; 3A Div I: 360-544; 3A Div II: 250-359; 2A Div 1: 164.5-249; 2A Div II: 105-164.4.

Wrestling remains undefeated

The Dripping Springs wrestling teams had a busy and prosperous week of competition. The varsity boys remained undefeated in dual matches as they took the measure of Lake Travis and San Antonio Madison. Especially satisfying was the victory over LT who had been able to hold off the Tigers for a few years. In addition, the boys varsity entered the Katy Maverick Stampede at Morton Ranch and placed second out of 39 teams. Able Silverman and Grant Clarno took the gold in this prestigious tourney. The varsity girls split their squads and the girls that went to Katy placed ninth among the 38 teams. The JV boys entered the San Antonio Roosevelt Rough Riders tourney and absolutely crushed the opposition. Meanwhile, some of the #2 athletes on the varsity were entered in the Varsity Rough Riders tourney as was part of the varsity girls team.
