Varsity Track at Texas relays

Each year all the Dripping Springs track members that qualify for events are entered at the Texas Relays. This is to give them added experience of what it will be like when they earn a spot at the state meet a month later. Dripping Springs took some of their best and got to compete with the best. It was one of the last steps to be taken before competing in the District 26- 5A district meet on April 12-13. Tomorrow all the track teams will be competing in the Unicorn Relays at New Braunfels.

The Lady Tigers had the most entries at the Texas Relays. Karsten Bobb had the best individual effort with a sixth in the 2000 Steeplechase with a school record of 7.21.83*. The Distance Medley relay team composed of Marleena Mickel, Kaleigh Howell, Kate Ginther and Bobb also placed sixth and a school record of 12.25.64*. Mickel also placed 18thin the 3200 with a time of 11.55.88. Finally the 400 relay team composed of Chloe Fredenburg, Howell, Megan Hancock and Taliyah Spain were 50th with a time of 48.76, a scant tenth of a second off the school record.

The Tigers placed 49th in the 400 relay as Luke Hudson, Garon Duncan, Chase Whisenant and Gunnar Betts raced to a time of 43.22. Betts placed 51st in the 100 with a time of 11.55. Gage Groce had a false start in his hurdles race.
