Time for speculation to begin...

Last Friday began the biannual UIL game of guess whose district you will be in the next two years under the realignment process. On that day each school under the UIL umbrella had to turn in their school enrollment as of that day. After receiving those numbers, the UIL will arrange all the schools, from top to bottom, according to those numbers. From that standpoint, the UIL will determine how many schools they want to have in the 6A classification. They start with the number one enrollment school and count down to that number and draw a line under that school's number. That is the cutoff number to 6A. They use the same procedure all the way down to the smallest school. In a couple of months the UIL will announce what classification each school will fall under. Then the speculation really begins. In February, the teams in each district will be announced and the scramble for a non-district schedule begins.

Dripping Springs will probably find themselves in a new classification (6A) and new speculations of who as DS can always find themselves moving in different directions from its location. The last realignment Dripping Springs found themselves within 20 students of going 6A and expected to turn in a higher number this time. According to the procedure, the cutoff line is not chiseled in stone, so will not be the same. Much of the speculation has the probability of the Tigers being paired with Lake Travis and Westlake but no one can be sure until February. Until then it is play on where you are.
