Tigers split a pair in district competition

The Dripping Springs High School Tiger basketball team was frighteningly close to a disastrous week of district play that would have knocked them out of playoff visions.

The Tigers were pushed to the limit at Austin High School before pulling out an overtime 64-58 victory behind Judson Loe's 27. A needed win at home versus Bowie High School was marred by the Bulldogs dominant 61-43 win, dropping the Tigers to fifth in district.

Austin did not make it easy. The Tigers moved out to a 16-9 first quarter lead but fell back to 27-26 at the break. Austin stormed to a 37-30 margin after three, but the Tigers managed to gain a 51 tie in regulation before the OT triumphant.

Bowie was another key game for fourth place. They came out hitting five threes in the initial quarter for a 17-9 lead. The Tigers could get no closer than a five-point difference in the second as the half ended 3425. Bowie dominated the Tigers in the paint the rest of the way. It was 50-36 after three.

Vs. Austin: Loe (27), Austin Moore (11), Jaxson Reagan (11), Rushton Budge (5,) Maddox Bloomgren (4), Brandon Spencer (3) and Stone Patterson (3).

Vs. Bowie: Reagan (11), Loe (7), Bloomgren (7), Moore (6), Budge (5), Brandon Froidcouer (3), Spencer (2) and Patterson (2).
