Tigers on a roll

The time to play your best ball of the season is during the playoffs. Otherwise, the season will be cut short. The baseball Tigers have decided they want a long season. They came back strong to defeat Georgetown twice in bi-district. The Area game was against San Antonio Jefferson. Jefferson won the toss and opted for a onegame playoff. They did the same for the bi-district. Usually when a team does this it is because they have one good pitcher and it is to their advantage to put the outcome on one roll of the dice. Even so, not a good option when you are playing a team with one of the best pitchers in the state and pretty good others to back up.

Dripping Springs would end up getting a good rest before taking on a regional quarterfinals opponent. Cameron O'Banan would throw a complete game shutout, added two hits and his Tiger teammates helped by adding five runs to defeat Jefferson 5-0. The Tigers would get on board first with a single run in the bottom of the first. With everything else being equal that would have been enough for the night. Later in the fifth, they would cross the plate three more times and then add their final run in the sixth. A couple of errors by Jefferson aided the cause.

This victory vaulted the Tigers into the next round. It will pit the Tigers against a district foe in the form of Alamo Heights. It should be a very nerve-wracking series. Dripping Springs defeated them twice in district play but only by one run, 5-4 and 3-2. All games will be played in Wimberley, which should make it nice for the home folks. Single games will be played on Thursday and Friday nights at 6:00pm. If a third is needed, it will be played at 1:00pm Saturday.
