Tigers blowout Lehman Lobos

Thanks to the Tiger defense, the Lehman Lobos' improving team was put back to square one with what looked to be a very easy 59-0 win to keep DS undefeated on the season. It is hard to show improvement when you are playing a team as strong as Dripping Springs that holds you to 42 total yards. They caused and recovered three fumbles. On the other side, the Tigers were firing on all cylinders.

It did not take long for the game to go sour for the Lobos as the Tigers struck for a 17-0 lead. The defense would force a three and out the first four possessions while the Tigers were scoring. Luke Hudson would take the opening KO and return it 11 yards to the 29. The Austin Novosad to Kyle Koch combo that worked for 4 TD's on the night went for 41 on the first play. It would stall at the 17 and Walker Wright split the uprights for a 34FG.

The next start was from the 35. Three pass plays got it to the Lobo 34. Hudson was handed the ball and he was able to squeeze through a small alley up the middle before finding himself in the clear and simply outdistanced the defenders for the score. Wright tacked on the EP. Again the Tigers were 65 yards away. Novosad made it simple. 35 to Garon Duncan and the final 30 to Koch. 17-0.

It was a prosperous second quarter with four scores. On the first play of the quarter it was a 13 pass to Koch and Javier Ortega kept the EP streak going. 24-0. On their first play, the back was relieved of the ball and Derek Edgar picked it up and walked in from the three. 31-0. The Lobos would put the ball on the ground the next series and allowed the Tigers to begin from 39 out. A big 35 pass to Koch led to a 3 TD to Koch. 38-0. The Tigers were forced to punt for the only time but when it came time for Lehman to punt they could not get it off and turned the ball over to DS at the 13. Another Koch reception from the 10 with 51 seconds left allowed the Tigers to enter the dressing room ahead 45-0.

Scoring in the second half was slowed by turnovers as DS could only produce a TD in each quarter. On the first drive, Novosad was intercepted in the endzone. Next try he would hit a wide open Noah Lawyer and he legged it 69 for the score and the final 18 minutes was turned over to the reserves. They would fumble on the five, get the ball back at the ten on a fumble but were stuffed on a fourth down. Third time was the charm as Kyle Curry bulled in from the three. The team would take the final possession and run out the clock for the shutout.

Friday night will find the Tigers hosting SA Veterans Memorial. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 PM. Last Friday's scores: Seguin over Harlandale 23-3; NB Canyon-McCollum 58-20; Hays Johnson-Veterans Memorial 45-28.
