Tigers baseball remains undefeated
The Dripping Springs Tigers baseball team continues to carefully negotiate through the hazardous trails of district warfare to stay undefeated in the league. They have completed the first half of the season and must turn around and repeat to give them the district title. The Tiger pitching staff have been stingy in giving up runs and the batters have done enough to produce the needed runs.
Lehman was the first of their last three to fall. DS would open with four and then got a single run in the third and two more in the fourth to accumulate their 7-0 decision. Seguin could not crack the run total either while the Tigers amassed 14 hits and six runs for their 6-0 win.
Kerrville Tivy came to town with upset on their minds. The leadoff batter stroked a hit and the next walked before Nico Ruedas worked out of the jam. Cameron O'Banan worked the pitcher for a leadoff walk. He was sacrificed to second. A two-out walk brought Reece Dunn to the plate. He has been the hottest batter of late. He would add two more on this night. He was fooled on both but had the presence to put the bat on the ball and let it find a hole just past the infield. He would bring in O'Banan with his first. The Tigers would get their goahead run in the fifth when Ruedas received a two-out walk and Blake Bryant laced a double to the right center wall to bring him in.
Tivy would use a DS error with two outs to tie the game in the second. A key play in the fourth kept Tivy from taking the lead. With a runner at second and two outs, the batter hit a ball into short left field that Ryan Kimball scooped up and fired home, just nipping the runner as he slid across the plate. Kerrville would threaten in the seventh when two walks and a sac put runners on second and third. Brandon Arvidson got the next two batters to save the 2-1 victory.
