Tiger football stays undefeated

Bring on the homecoming games. The Dripping Springs High School Tigers are certainly ready for them.

Teams that pick the Tigers for their homecoming games are making a serious mistake. The Bowie High School Bulldogs, celebrating their homecoming last week, were dominated by the Tigers to the tune of 55-7. Unlike the previous week, where turnovers were key to scores, the Bulldogs were simply victims of a well-oiled Tiger team effort.

The offense used a patient play selection that included pitch and catch plays between quarterback Austin Novosad (#16) and his talented set of receivers, sprinkled with steady running plays. The defense continues to stymie the opposition, including a pick-six as part of the action. DSHS remains undefeated at 4-0, 2-0 in district play, and looking forward to hosting the Hays Johnson Jaguars Friday night.

The Tigers kicked off and, after allowing a 42 pass, forced a punt and got back to business at their own 20-yard line. Twelve plays later, Novosad would find wide receiver Kyle Koch (#6) in the endzone from the ten. Kicker Walker Wright (#7) would make it 7-0 at the 6.53 mark. Again, the Tigers would allow a Bulldog long pass before forcing a punt. This time it would take seven plays to negotiate the 71 yards with running back Jack Tyndall (#18) bolting into the endzone from the five. The extra point was missed. 13-0.

After a three and out, the Tigers were back in action. They had to overcome a recalled 34-yard pass touchdown to wide receiver Garon Duncan (#8) due to a penalty. That would only delay the inevitable as the drive continued on into the second quarter with Duncan snagging a 4-yard pass. 20-0. A downed punt at the one put the Tigers 99 yards away. Again, it would take 12 plays. Whereas the previous drive was the longest you could have, the one pass to wide receiver Joseph Moreland (#12) was the shortest score one can have. 27-0. A failed fourth down set the Tigers up on Bowie's 36yard line. It was equally divided in two pass plays with the first 18 going to wide receiver Skylar Capone- Ford (#15) and the final yards to tight end Boston Papp (#25) as the Tigers scored in all their possessions. 34-0.

Dripping Springs suffered a three and out to start the second half. The punt was killed on the one-yard line, which gave defensive back Greyson Jones (#5) the opportunity to step in front of the receiver and take it to the house from the 11. 41-0. After the first drive, the Tiger coaches took out Novosad and began to rotate in more players. The Tigers ended up having to punt on their next drive and Bowie would manage to put together an 82-yard drive that would end up with a 1-yard score on the first play of the fourth quarter for their only score of the night.

A 7-play, 70-yard drive culminated with a 15yard pass from backup quarterback Jack Williams (#10) to Moreland, raising the score to 48-7. The final score came as running back Braedon Mulder (#33) got his chance and made the most of it. He burst through a wave of Bulldogs and proceeded to outrun everyone for the one-play, 66-yard score. Final: 55-7.
