Tiger Basketball looking stronger and stronger

The Dripping Springs Tigers are looking stronger and stronger as they get deeper into the season. They have showed the ability to put up the points as they have been challenged by some pretty good teams. They presently have a 9-4 record, which includes an opening district win over Lanier. The 72-12 victory was surprising, not in the fact of how many points the Tigers put up but in how far Lanier has dropped in talent this season. In the past they have always been able to put up a better game than this one.

Prior to this, Dripping Springs traveled to Gregory-Portland to play in their tourney. They opened with Brazosport and came away with a slim 53-49 advantage. Brazosport held a 26-25 edge at the half but the Tigers came out strong to post a 20-6 margin in the third and held off the rally in the fourth for the win. Flour Bluff was the next opponent and fell to the Tigers 59-35. Tigers trailed 10-9 after one but took a 26-19 lead at half. FB could not stay with DS as the Tigers held 19-6 and 14-10 edges in each quarter. It was one exciting shootout with Clemens as the nets took much punishment on the night in Clemens 80-79 win. Clemens led 24-22 after one but DS held the advantage at half 42-38. It was knotted at 53 after three and a barn-burner in the final period. The Tigers would dispose of Friendswood 51-46 in the final tourney game. In another big point game St. Mary's Hall proved way too much for the Tigers in an 89-71 loss. No stats were available at press time for St. Mary's and Lanier.

Dripping Springs is looking at another good stretch of challenges during the holidays. They will be competing in the Fredericksburg Roundball Classic December 27-29. They will open with Midlothian Heritage, then Grandbury, Cleburne and Huffman Hargrave before playing on Saturday. Wednesday, January 2, will absolutely be a must-see matchup when the Tigers host the district favorite, LBJ. This will be a 6:00PM tip off. You should see a fast-paced game with many points flying through the nets.
