Sports tidbits

Track

Four Dripping Springs athletes reached their goal of competing in the 5A State Track meet held at Myers Stadium in Austin. To place well at this level one must improve their best time because you can expect everyone else to be doing the same. Competition is top notch as these represent the top nine in the state. Only one of the Tigers was able to improve their time but one knows that all gave everything they had to represent Dripping Springs well and they did. One does not get do-overs until the next year.

Maddie Livingston lowered her school record to 10.45.15 in the 3200 with a strong finish on the last lap to earn a bronze medal (third).

Kate Ginther placed seventh in the 800 with a time of 2.16.83. Even her school record time (2.14.04) would not have moved her up in the standings.

Coleman Chapman placed seventh in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.54. This is always a close race and his school record (38.41) would not have enhanced his place.

Caleb Lopez placed fifth in the 1600 with a time of 4.20.55. His best time of 4.16.50 would have won this event.

Soccer

More honors continue to come for the members of the 5A State Champion team. The UIL announced a State All-Tourney team following the championship game. The two finalists shared the team members.

Gaining the honors for the Lady Tigers were Sofia Picucci, Sr. Forward; Rylie Flores, Sr. Forward; Laney Kalsu, Fr. Defender; Riley Sisson, So. Midfielder; Avery Davis, Sr. Midfielder; Caroline Dill, So. Goalkeeper.

Baseball

The Texas High School Coaching Association named the 5A Academic All-State baseball team. Making it for the Tigers were: Elite: Carter King, Dylan Wolfe, Mitchell Bockelman. Second Team: Brennan Frickel, Luke D'Alessandro. Honorable Mention: Daniel Mayes.
