Sports tidbits

Soccer

The soccer teams are still cruising along. The girls fought their way to a 0-0 tie against Alamo Heights and then blanked Veteran Memorial 4-0, but details of that win were not available by press time. The Lady Tigers are 4-0-1.

The boys soccer team had another close one as well. They outlasted Alamo Heights 2-1. Ethan Roberts scored the first goal with an assist from Gabe Molander, while Mason Russell scored the second with a Roberts assist. Veteran Memorial was an easier go with a 7-0 triumph. Scoring in the VM game were: Molander/Roberts; Beck McWorter/Molander; Roberts/Ian Driggers; McWorter/Ricky Alvarez; Adam Knutson/Molander; Roberts/Knutson; Brendan Gajewski/Diego Zamudio.

Golf

Golf finally got back in action after a hiatus since November. The Tigers first tourney was hosted by Vandegrift and played at the Delaware Springs course. Scoring for the team were: Tanner Wardlaw 80-83=163; Coy Needham 80-87=167; Luke Ezzell 84-86=170; Nick Kort 86-87=173; Cole Kirbo 93-88=181. Team totals: 330-343=673.

Cross country

In a recent edition of the Austin American-Statesman, the All-Centex cross country team was named. Cross country is a strong sport in the area, and it takes a good athlete to be named to the squad. Dripping Springs had the honor of having Maddie Livingston being among the six honorees. She has participated in four state tourneys and her senior year, she led the fourth place Lady Tigers with a ninth place finish.

Volleyball

Like cross country, the central Texas area is just teeming with outstanding volleyball athletes. Anytime you are named to an all-anything list, it is a high honor. In the recent American-Statesman's naming of their All-Centex volleyball teams, Dripping Springs, a state tourney team, had two players named to the first team of six. Senior libero Nicole Herbert and sophomore outside hitter Makenzie Plante.
