Soccer undefeated in District play

The Tigers are finding that the district is full of good soccer teams and that is fine with them. To prepare for the coming playoffs, it is always best to have good competition throughout, to give one the experience of encountering the various types of situations needed to go deep. Lanier was the third in line as the Tigers remain undefeated in district play. DS managed to get a goal each half to get past the Vikings 2-0. Andrew Spiegal, with an assist by Adam Knutson, got the first score. In the second half Knutson would take advantage of an assist by Gabe Molander for the final goal.

Coach Hill again reiterated how strong an effort the Tigers put up against a tough Lanier squad. He was really proud of their effort and any win on the road is always a big deal.

The JV also remained undefeated with a 2-1 win over Lanier. Luis Mujica and Matthew Hilton scored the goals. The freshmen were turned back 4-5. Scoring were Javier Ortega 2, Diego Zamudio and Alberto Mujica.

LBJ was able to give the Tigers their first district loss when they squeezed out a 2-1 verdict. As all have been it was a tough battle for the entire game. LBJ scored their first goal in the first half to hold onto a 1-0 advantage at the half. Ethan Roberts tied the game during the second half with an assist by Max Gonzales. However, LBJ would come back for the decisive goal.

In the subvarsity games, the Tiger JV won 3-1. Reece Brownwell had two goals and Mujica had the other. The 9thgrade blew away LBJ 7-1. Zamudio scored three goals, Daniel Garcia 2 and Javier Gonzalez. The other goal was scored by the LBJ team.

In the Lockhart game, the Tigers not only had to battle a good Lion team but brutal elements as well. It was around freezing and a chill factor in the low 20's. They would eke out a goal in the second half to escape Lockhart with a 1-0 win to put them 4-1 in district. JV game cancelled.
