Soccer season returns

The soccer season is underway and both teams look ready to start up where they left off last year. And that is a pretty high start considering the finish from last year. The Lady Tigers are the defending 5A state champions, having only 1 loss, 1 tie on their record 27 wins. The Tigers were eked out in the regional semis round. Those goals are not out of question as many veterans return from those squads.

Boys: The Tigers got their mettle tested quickly as they travelled to Frisco to participate in one of the top tourneys around. They hung with the three teams they played and proved they were up to the competition and the season. They defeated Prosper 3-1 but lost to Frisco Wakeland 3-2 and Frisco Lone Star 2-1.

Vs Prosper: Scoring/assists Brenden Gajewski/Adam Knutson; York Merrill/ Javier Gonzalez; Gajewski/ Knutson.

Vs Wakeland: Lukas Buchberger; Merrill/ Buchberger.

Vs Lone Star: Gajewski/ Knutson.

Marble Falls seemed like a walk in the park after returning and were unceremoniously dumped 5-1. Scoring was by Mason Russell; Knutson/Ricky Alvarez; Knutson; Ricky Alvarez/Knutson; Merrill/ Knutson. The Tiger JV lost 1-0 while the Freshmen won 2-0 with Mason Vielle and Julian Gonzales scoring the goal.

Girls: The Lady Tigers are very strong again this year and opened their season with a 5-2 verdict over SA Steele. Freshman, Ellie Hodsden scored a hat trick (3 goals in a game) in her first night of play and added an assist. Taliyah Spain and Chloe Fredenburg scored the other two. A match with Lake Travis proved to be a good one as DS prevailed 1-0. Not known at this time who scored the goal.

This past weekend both teams were competing in tourneys, the Tigers in their own and the Lady Tigers at Katy. The boys had no trouble taking theirs and the girls were blowing out their opponents. More information next week. Both teams opened district play last Tuesday.
