Lady Tigers softball results

Rain menaced the efforts of Dripping Springs and Leander Glenn to get in their bi-district series. At no time did the teams ever get to play a complete game. On Thursday they were able to get in four innings before the rains came and suspended action until the next day with DS leading 9-8.

On Friday, the remaining three innings were played with the Lady Tigers holding the 14-12 edge. They embarked on the second game shortly thereafter, only to have that game halted in the top of the fifth due to lightning and rain with Glenn leading 9-5. The next day the teams were able to finish that game with Glenn outlasting the Lady Tigers 10-9.

This brought up a third and deciding game. Again they made it to the top of the fifth. This time the Lady Tigers had one out and the bases loaded when the rains made the field unplayable and a third straight suspension game. Although the UIL usually requires a team to be declared a winner by midnight, they also have the waiver power to play beyond. This was the case and the third game was completed Monday afternoon.

It is already known the winner of this series will play Medina Valley this weekend. If it is DS, then Coach Wade Womack will be playing the team he formerly coached. Complete stats from the series were not available at press time, so it will be in our next issue. Please check with the athletic website for more details on the playoff sites.
