Lady Tigers on a roll

Two more district wins set the Lady Tigers up with a tough three-game stretch that will go a long way toward deciding the standings. DS had two straight shutouts to put them solidly in second place with a 6-1 record. They were able to shutdown Lehman 10-0 and Seguin 5-0. Last Friday they faced Kerrville Tivy and then due to the number of district games, a Saturday game with Hays Johnson. No doubt, the game the Lady Tigers are pointing to most will be the rematch with NB Canyon at DS. This one took place last Tuesday.

Lehman was held in check by Jordan Cox as she pitched the six-inning game, giving up one hit, walking one and striking out four. Did not hurt herself with three hits. DS opened with two runs in the first, another one in the third, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and finished it off with two in the sixth. Taylor Anderson led the 13-hit parade with four including a double and homerun. Others were Haiden Anderson 2, Kate Tressler 2, Haley Kanetzky and Erika Kanetzky.

Seguin came to town and the game was more than expected. It was time for H. Anderson to take the mound. The two pitchers had trouble with their control but did have enough to make it tough on the opposing batters. As much as anything it is what a pitcher should always know. There are eight other people on the team that has your back. Anderson had a no-hitter until two outs in the sixth when a Matador batter looped a single into leftcenter field. They added another single in the seventh. Anderson walked three and struck out ten.

The first score came in the second. Anderson reached first on an error and her pinchrunner stole second and reached third on a ground out. Haley Kanetzky singled in the score. For a while it looked like that would be it but then the fateful fifth. First two batters made outs. Linan Scott singled, with walks by E. Kanetzky and H. Anderson loading the bases. Cox singled in two followed by H. Kanetzky's two-run single to close out the scoring.
