Lady Tigers drop a pair to Bowie, Johnson

It was the best of chances to gain a rare win for the Lady Tigers, but the Dripping Springs High School team could not match the good points of their previous games and fell to Johnson High School 40-34.

It was a game where one could see the Lady Tigers had a solid chance to win. To win this game, the Lady Tigers would have to be able to protect the ball and get off a maximum number of shots. For most of the season, this was a strong point for the team. However, in this game, they continually turned the ball over without a shot taken.

After an opening basket by Ainsley Coleman — and later a three by Ella Beatty — the Lady Tigers never led again. They stayed close but could not get ahead due to the turnovers. It was 7-12 after one, 16-19 at the half and 2627 after three. With victory in sight all through the fourth, it was just not to be. Another chance to win passed them by.

Bowie High School was another story. They were battling for first place in district, and it showed. It was 9-18 after one, and 15-39 at the break. The second half was no better as the lead stretched to 53-28 after three and finished 69-32.

Vs. Bowie: Rain Collins (11), Kenlea Hardin (7), Bailey Rogers (4), Beatty (3), Abigail Robinson (3), Gracie Embry (2) and Jaeden Stankard (1).

Vs. Johnson: Collins (12), Coleman (5), Beatty (4), Lane Fields (4), Caroline Shealy (3), Hardin (3) and Rogers (3).
