Lady Tigers come close

Close still only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. The Lady Tigers basketball team continues to find that out as they can not quite get over the scoring hump to win their games. Whatever the ingredients, they have been unable to get the door open for another victory and time is running out to get in the playoffs. They lost valuable ground when they dropped a 47-42 decision to Kerrville Tivy, a team in the top three, and a 66-65 loss to Hays Johnson, a team they defeated in the first round. District standings: Canyon 9-0, Boerne Champion 7-2, Kerrville 6-2, Seguin 7-3, Johnson 4-5, DS 3-6, Veterans Memorial 2-5, Alamo Heights 1-8, Lehman 0-8.

One of the things that pops out is the fact all the members have been contributing to the team effort of scoring, playing tough defense and grabbing those rebounds. As long as you continue to have that, one has a team they can and will be proud of. Our Lady Tigers are certainly not giving up the season as long as they have games to play. Our next opportunity to see them at home will be on January 25 against Alamo Heights.

Vs Kerrville: Makynna Hubbard 10, Ella Smith 8, Linan Scott 7, Jordan Cox 5, Caroline Dill 4, Hayden Ely 4, Kiera O'Connor 2.

Vs Johnson: Scott 8, Smith 8, Maddie Robles 7, Cox 7, Brynn Fields 7, Ely 6, O'Connor 4, Hubbard 2, Karenna Edwards 2, Azaria Arnold 2.
