Lady Tiger Varsity Basketball ahead of Crockett and Lockhart

It was a good week all around for the Lady Tigers. As it began the Lady Tigers knew they were going to have to go through Crockett in their quest to get a share of the district title. Crockett had defeated them in the first round and there did not appear to be anyone capable of beating the Lady Cougars but the Lady Tigers since they were ranked high in state and a weak district. However, a team's record as a reason for rank and not the quality of opponent sometime overrates. Crockett came down to earth this week as Lockhart took a significant 57-46 win over them and the Lady Tigers then put a good-sized nail in their coffin with a 48-33 win after taking care of Travis in an earlier game.

What this means is Dripping Springs has a one-game lead over Crockett and Lockhart with five to play. Lockhart being one of those, but none have come close to the Lady Tigers in play so far. If DS takes care of business it will be the first outright championship for the Lady Tigers since 2003. They last shared the title in 2006.

Single digit scoring in quarters by district opponents is the norm for the Lady Tigers as it becomes a name your score game. For the Travis game it was 79-19. Travis did not have a JV team and it was obvious why when the starting lineup consisted of four sophomores and a junior and a couple of subs. Did not take long to overrun the Lady Rebels as little resistance took place. It was 23-3 after one. Even as substitutes were inserted freely scoring did not slow down. It was 42-9 at the half. Kennedy Donovan and Emily Kotrola sparked the third quarter as it ended 61-17.

It was a big night at Crockett and the Lady Tigers were up to the task. For sure, Donovan and Caroline Gamble provided the firepower. Donovan was 4-6 from two and 8-15 from the line. Gamble was 3-4 from two and 3-6 from three.
