Lady Tiger Basketball wins over Leander Rose

In a final tune-up for district play, the Lady Tigers took on Leander Rouse and came away with an impressive 46-33 victory. Improved play was evident as DS moved the ball around until someone had an open percentage shot. This included the three-pointers. With the accuracy displayed from the outside, this will prevent defenses from packing in the middle and daring Lady Tigers to shoot. Caroline Gamble (3), Ally Beck (2) and Kenedy Donovan (2) proved they are adept at the skill. Overall, DS was 10-23 from 2-range and 8-21 from three.

Rouse had a little height and it looked as if they would give the Lady Tigers a little trouble. It was back and forth for six minutes until Teagan Huslig hit a three to give DS an 8-6 lead they would not relinquish. It was 12-6 after one. Gamble would catch fire for 10 and Donovan 5 to put the score at half 27-10. Four threes was the impetus for a 41-22 advantage after three.

Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Gamble 13, Donovan 11, Kaitlyn Brack 6, Beck 6, Huslig 5, Kline Stafford 3, Carson Hall 2.

DS opened district play at Lanier last Tuesday but the big matchup will be tomorrow night at DS (5-8) when they take on the favored Crockett Lady Cougars (16-2) at home.
