Lacrosse sweeps Anderson and Round Rock

The big question going into the 2019 season was where the scoring would come from with the graduation of the team’s two biggest goal producers. The eight-ranked Tigers would answer that question with two district contests last weekend against the Anderson High Trojans and Round Rock High Dragons ranking up 37 goals from 12 different players.

The Tigers opened their season against a young Anderson team at home in front of an electric, record-setting crowd for a regular season game. Junior captain Charlie Pouland scored the first of his three goals four minutes into the contest and opened the scoring floodgates. The Tigers cruised to a 17-4 win. Nic Austin had 2 goals and three assists. Player of the game, Cristian Reno, added 6 goals. Senior captain Connor Mogen had 10 saves. Jack Lennon was awarded the coveted team hammer for hard play. JV won their game, 14-2.

It was more of the same when Dripping Springs traveled to Dragon Stadium in Round Rock. The Tigers jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, winning 20-6. Austin was KDRP’s Player of game with 4 goals and 5 assists. Reno had a goal and 5 assists. Ryan Watterson added 4 goals and Pouland had a hat trick. Joesph Guzaldo was awarded the hammer. JV also won, 9-4.

The Tigers are back in action this weekend versus Dallas area teams. They play a very physical Flower Mound team on Saturday at 2PM at DS Middle School. On Sunday, they host the Allen Eagles at noon at DSHS.
