Lacrosse first win over Dallas area team

The Dripping Springs Lacrosse Team entered the weekend with two home games against Flower Mound and Allen. Entering the contests, the Tigers had never beaten a Division 1 team from the Dallas-Area.

That would all change on Saturday against the Flower Mound Jaguars. The Tigers scored :10 into the game and cruised to a 12-4 win. Junior Captain Jakob Joy, who committed to play for High Point University on Friday, lead the defense and was the KDRP Player of the Game. Senior Ryan Thomas took home the hammer for gritty play along with 4 goals. Alex Schlab continued his domination at faceoff going 11 of 13. Goalie Connor Mogen had 14 saves. 

Sunday saw the Tigers suffer their first loss of the season against Texas' largest high school, Allen. The Tigers pounced on the Eagles with an early 2-0 lead and headed to into halftime up 6-5. Allen outscored Drip 6-1 in the third quarter and won 15-10. Joy and junior Ryan Watterson did not play in the game due to injuries and their absence was felt. Cristian Reno had 2 goals and 2 assists. Nic Austin had a goal and 2 assists. 

Junior Varsity won both of their games. They beat Flower Mound 14-3 and Austin High 14-2.

The 3-1 Tigers head to Dallas this weekend for the Patriot Cup with a Saturday game against Episcopal School of Dallas, the 2017 State Champions, and finish on Sunday again Coppell.
