High school basketball roundup

Both of our varsity basketball teams are well into their seasons. Each is struggling with district just around the corner. They will really have to turn up the improvement to get in the thick of the district race.

Varsity Girls Results:

After the disastrous result with Fredericksburg, the Lady Tigers pulled themselves up by the bootstrap and competed well in the Leander Rouse tourney. They dropped their opening game with Round Rock Westwood 48-45. They overwhelmed Pflugerville Connally 65-16 and then lost to Austin Anderson 41-36 and Rouse 49-32. On the Saturday they had rematches with Connally and Anderson. Again it was a one-sided game with PC 73-11 but Anderson would go down in a close one 50-49. In a trip to Harker Heights, the Lady Tigers fell 43-29 to give DS a 4-5 record. Their first district game will be at home against Hays Johnson on Tuesday, November 30, 6:45. Vs Anderson scoring:

Vs Anderson scoring: Linan Scott 10, Jordan Cox 7, Ainsley Ballard 6, Ella Smith 6, Ava Warren 6, Hayden Ely 5, Karenna Edwards 5, Makynna Hubbard 4, Caroline Dill 1.

Vs Harker Heights: Dill 6, Smith 6, Ballard 5, Warren 4, Cox 4, Edwards 2, Kiera O'Connor 2.

Varsity Boys:

The Tigers were hit hard by graduation last year and that has not been more evident than the start of the season. The returning players scored very few points last year and the team as a whole have not scored well in their 0-6 start. There are a few on the squad just joining after the football season concluded, and they will have to get their basketball legs under them. Dripping Springs opens district play December 7 at Boerne Champion.

San Antonio Brandeis confronted the Tigers first at Concordia University. DS fell 60-55 in a close one. Next they took on Rouse and were roughed up 71-27. The past weekend the Tigers entered the Spurs tourney in San Antonio. They hung in with SA East Central 57-53 and dropped the Laredo Nixon game 60-43 on the first day. The next day SA Reagan took their measure 55-21 and SA Brennan followed with a 57-48 win.
