DS track athletes going to Junior Olympics
Dripping Springs will send four track and field athletes to the Junior Olympics next month. Karsten Bobb, Audrey Williamson, Laurel Hoskovec and Gage Groce qualified for the AAU division after competing in the AAU Region 19 Qualifier in Converse, Texas last weekend. The top six finishers in each event qualified for the national meet.
Bobb, who is bouncing back after having a fractured foot and missing the spring season won gold in 17-18 women 2K Steeplechase. She won two silver medals in the 1500 and 3000 races. Bobb also won the AAU Academic Athlete award for the Region.
Williamson won silver in the 17-18 womens’ 400 hurdles. Hoskovec placed sixth in the 13 girls’ 3000. Groce was 5th in the men's 400 hurdles.

It has become the showcase event of the AAU Sports Program. Since its beginning in Washington, D.C., the AAU Junior Olympic Games have been conducted in 19 states and 30 cities across the United States. ‘There's nothing junior about it,’ has become the theme of the AAU Junior Olympic Games while growing to over 16,000 participants in over 20 sports. The Games popularity has exploded to now represent all 50 states and several United States territories.”
The Junior Olympics will be held in Humble, Texas this year the first week of August.
