Dripping Springs High School golfers hit the links

Taking advantage of good weather, the various Dripping Springs golf teams entered tourneys during their fall season with varied results.

It will definitely be a long season for the teams in District 26-6A not named Westlake and Lake Travis. Westlake High School has one of the top programs in the state and generally sends two teams to state each year. Lake Travis High School squeezes in where they can. Nevertheless, one can expect Coach Jason Wahlers and his teams will be in there competing hard all the way.

The varsity boys entered Vandegrift's tourney, played on the Falconhead course. It was supposed to be a two-day event, but the second was canceled. The boys had a total of 345. Scoring were Allen Ferno 81, Jacob Gonzales 87, William Mangione 87, Carson Schroeder 90 and Lane Johnson 99.

The varsity girls took the trip over to Plum Creek course to play in the Hays tourney. Team total was 375. Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Ashley Murphy 90, Paris Shirley 90, Micaela Contreras 96, Gabrielle Ortiz 99 and Daryl Dean 101.

The junior varsity boys were able to get in three tourneys so far. Their first of the year was the Westlake tourney, held at the Lions course in Austin. They had a team score of 365. Providing that total was Carson Simpson 85, Townes Frasure 89, Kyle Kreuz 95, Beck Hembree 96 and Jensen Brudnicki 96.

Next up was the Hays tourney, held at the Plum Creek course. The Tigers dropped their total to 346. Scoring were Kreuz 83, Simpson 86, Frasure 88, Hembree 89 and Elijah Slater 89.

The Rouse tourney was played on the Crystal Falls course. The team total was 377 carved out by Simpson 91, Kreuz 91, Slater 91, Frasure 103 and Hembree 103.
