Dripping Springs Girls Basketball underway

Sports are quickly turning from fall to winter.

As team tennis, crosscountry, football and volleyball concludes, swimming and boys and girls basketball heats up. The Lady Tigers basketball team has opened their season by splitting their opening two games with Round Rock Westwood and New Braunfels Canyon. This year, due to the number of teams in District 266A, the district schedule starts early and eliminates the chance to play all the tourneys they usually get to play in.

As in most sports in this district, making the playoffs is tough. Austin High, Lake Travis and Westlake will vie for the top three spots with most of the rest battling for the fourth.

Dripping Springs has much experience returning from a tough season last year. They will also get more help from the volleyball team after their season is over. The early results show the Lady Tigers are making good strides and will be a force to be reckoned with among the others. They fell to Westwood 46-31 with a couple of single digit scoring quarters hurting their chances. Defense picked up with Canyon as the initial win of the season was a 38-24 triumph.

Vs. Westwood: Jordan Cox 13, Linan Scott 6, Kiera O'Connor 4, Megan Hancock 4, Azaria Arnold 2, Makynna Hubbard 2.

Vs. Canyon: Hayden Ely 11, Arnold 9, Hancock 4, Cox 3, Rain Collins 3, Peyton Richards 2, Hubbard 2, O' Connor 2, Anna Rhode 2.
