Dripping Springs easily takes Del Valle

The Dripping Springs High School Tigers continue to get as much quality playing time as they can on the football field— despite the common lack of quality competition.

It will be needed, as the playoffs ahead will provide full game competition each week. The Del Valle High School Cardinals were simply not up to the task last week, as the Tigers scored the first nine times they touched the ball, overwhelming Del Valle 66-7. The starters played most of the first half while pushing out to a 52-0 lead.

Kade Curry continued to pile up the yardage in this game and split his four touchdowns between rushing and receiving. His 226 yards rushing came on just 11 carries. The defense held DV to minus nine yards rushing, 76 yards passing, two interceptions and one fumble recovery in the first half alone. There was very little drop off in the second half production of the reserves. The Cardinals were able to crack the scoring column with less than two minutes remaining with a long run.

The final regular season game for the Tigers (8-1) will be this Friday night at House Park in Austin against Anderson High School. This game is not likely to test the skills of the Tigers either. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.

Dripping Springs, being the top DII seed from the district, should be hosting the second DII seed from District 256A. At present, that will be either Manor High School or Vista Ridge High School with Manor having the inside track. Check with the Athletic website for details.
