Florence “Anne” Smith Nelson

Florence “Anne” Smith Nelson, age 77, passed away on August 25, 2020 after a 5-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family in Round Rock, Texas. Prior to retiring, Anne worked in the oil and gas industry in Houston, the land surveying industry, and finally as a caregiver in the patient care industry. After retirement, Anne lived a rich and full life in Dripping Springs, Texas with her mother, loving neighbors and a tight knit support community. She thrived in her retirement by using her caregiver skills to take care of her mother, Janelle Chitwood Taliaferro, and starting a dog sitting/walking business. She was also an amazing crafter and exceptional gardener. Her knowledge of horticulture was unsurpassed. She was also so thoughtful and caring, often gifting those around her with personalized artisan pieces she lovingly handcrafted. She is survived by her granddaughter, Arden Corinne Nelson and her ex-daughter-in-law Stacy Nelson who took loving care of her during her final days. Anne is also survived by her brother Jack Clifford Smith and her sister Bonnie Newman, who both reside in Houston, Texas. She was beloved by all that met and knew her.

Anne dearly loved her medical/nursing team, oncologist, Jennifer Wright, M.D., and her therapist, Barbara Jo Stetzeberger. In lieu of a memorial service, we are asking all who are interested to donate to Texas Oncology South Austin.
