On Saturday morning, members and family of VFW Post 2933 and the Vince F. Taylor American Legion Post 290 gathered at Phillips Cemetery to place flags on veterans’ gravesites for Memorial Day. Before beginning, Echo Taps were played by two local musicians, Darrell and Bill Cox, while veterans rendered a salute to the U.S. Flag.

The veterans also placed about 150 flags on the graves of other veterans who are buried in Fitzhugh, Driftwood, and Wallace Mt. cemeteries. This event is held every year during the Memorial Day weekend, along with a ceremony placing the U.S. Flag at half-mast at Veteran’s Park (The Triangle), on Memorial Day itself.
