Knights of Columbus donate to veterans groups

The Knights of Columbus Council 11695, of St. Martin de Porres, contributed $5,500 to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2933, and American Legion Post 290, for their construction project of building of a new veterans hall, and $500 to Honor Flight Austin, at a recent veterans dinner.

The donations were made possible by the success of the Knights’ recent Hill Country Sporting Clay Shootout held on Aug. 17 at Hog Heaven Sporting Club.

Robert Chaplin, a retired U.S. Air Force Command Sergeant Major, made the check presentation to the VFW and American Legion on behalf of the Knights. “We are proud to support the Dripping Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2933 and American Legion Post 290 in their efforts to build a new veterans hall,” Chaplin said. “All the good works the Knights do are based on four core principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.  Many of our Knights are also active members of one or both of our local posts. We also want to thank all the members and business people of the community that supported the Hill Country Sporting Clay Shootout.”
