Milner wins VFW Teacher of the Year
Lauren Milner, a teacher at Dripping Springs High School, was awarded Teacher of the Year by VFW Post 2933 and went on to win first place at the VFW District 5 competition.
Milner received her Teacher of the Year Certificate and cash prize of $300 at the VFW/American Legion Christmas/Awards Dinner, at the new Hog Heaven Event Center on Dec. 12.
“It’s a pleasure to bestow this honor on a fellow veteran,” VFW Post Commander Ronnie G. (Shorty) Barnett said. “The work she does with young people at the high school is commendable. We’re especially proud of her sponsorship of the high school ROTC club.”
Milner teaches Health Sciences at DSHS and is the sponsor of the DSHS ROTC Club. She holds a BS in International Business and French from Saint Joseph’s College, a Master of Science (MS) in Sports and Health Sciences from American Military University, and a MBA in finance from Trident University. She is also a U.S. Army veteran, with an Associate Degree in Persian Farsi Studies from the Defense Language Institute.
Milner will now advance to the VFW State Level competition.
