Editor’s Note: DSISD Superintendent Todd Washburn spoke with the DSCN over the phone to answer questions about what the school planning process has been like for him during a pandemic.
DSISD, last week, checked out about 2,000 devices (Chromebooks/iPads) for students to use during the school year. In addition, about 600 that were assigned in the spring were kept by students over the summer and they will continue to use those.
The Hays County Commissioners Court voted in favor of a bond election this November for parks, conservation, connectivity and flood mitigation projects at $75 million.

A Dripping Springs woman in her 80s has died from COVID-19. The Hays County Local Health Department reported the fatality, the first for Dripping Springs, on August 13. Across the county, cases are “trending lower” according to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider. As of Monday, August 17, the Hays County Local Health Department reported 39 new lab-confirmed cases since Friday’s update, meaning that is a three-day total (for August 15-17). Epidemiologist Eric Schneider also reported one new hospitalization and 42 additional recoveries.
