VFW earns All-State Award
Dripping Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2933 has once again earned All-State Post in the Texas VFW.
To earn All-State, a VFW post has to accomplish a set of demanding community involvement requirements, which include a minimum of twenty community service projects, nine Americanism projects, and six youth projects.
The current award was received for the year of 2017-2018, and was earned under the tenure of USAF COL (Ret.) Robert A. Garland, Jr., as Post Commander, and US Army COL (Ret.) Gary P. Hale as Post Quartermaster.
“I think the award speaks to our post commitment to the Dripping Springs community as well as to our local youth,” current Post Commander Ronnie G. (Shorty) Barnett said. “As the current post commander, I look forward to continuing the post’s involvement, and I’m especially proud of the academic scholarship programs we offer. I urge all current students beginning their senior year to look into the eligibility requirements.”
“Many of our veterans are involved with multiple community organizations, have grandchildren, and love Dripping Springs, Texas, and our country,” Hale said. “Because of that, it’s not surprising that our post has been able to be so involved in our community, and earn All-State status”
