Two new faces to join City Council

The unofficial results are in for the May 1 Dripping Springs City Council race. Geoffrey Tahuahua defeats Charlie Busbey for Place 3, and Sherrie Parks unseats Travis Crow for Place 5.

Tahuahua received 57.22 percent of the vote (226 votes) to Busbey’s 42.78 percent (169 votes). Tahuahua released a statement on his Facebook campaign page saying, “Thank you, Dripping Springs… I can’t tell you how grateful and humbled I am for this opportunity to serve you as your next city council member,” he said. “Dripping Springs is facing many challenges, but they’re good challenges. People are moving here because they want the close-knit community and the lifestyle we hold dear. I believe we can find the right balance of preparing for and managing growth, welcoming new neighbors with open arms while preserving the charm and character that make this town our home. I’m honored to be able to contribute my strategic planning and local government experience to help navigate the future of Dripping Springs.”

For Place 5, Parks received 64.08 percent of the vote (264 votes) to incumbent Crow’s 35.92 percent (148 votes).

Parks said in a statement, "I am humbled by the overwhelming support shown by the citizens of Dripping Springs and I look forward to representing them as I serve on the City Council. It is important to me that I make myself available to our residents so I can listen and address their concerns. I am excited to get started!"

The City of Dripping Springs will be canvassing the official results at the May 11 City Council meeting and council member elects will be sworn in either May 18 or June 8.
