Teacher of the Year awarded by VFW Post 2933
Marie Rogers of Dripping Springs Elementary School has been named Teacher of the Year by VFW Post 2933. Ms. Rogers is in her third year as DSE's Physical Education teacher and her 15th year teaching.
Rogers was also the winner of the VFW District 5 Elementary Teacher of the Year where she was presented a certificate and a cash award at the New Braunfels VFW Post 7110.
Each year the Dripping Springs VFW post nominates a local Teacher of the Year, who then moves on to the VFW district level and is judged against 10-15 other VFW Post winners. The district winner competes against 20-25 other teachers in a statewide contest, which advances to the national level. Following the nomination of a teacher, judges consider teaching experience and background as well as recommendations in determining a winner.
