Moreno puts hat in the ring for County Commissioner

Tennyson Moreno has announced his 2024 run for Hays County Commissioner, Precinct 3.

This makes Moreno an early candidate for the Republican primary scheduled for March of 2024. He will likely face incumbent Lon Shell, should the commissioner choose to re-run for the position he has held since 2017.

According to a press release sent out Aug. 3, Tennyson is a sixth generation Texan and is a graduate of the Tarrant County College’s Professional Pilot & Flight Science Program. He is a licensed pilot and works as a local political campaign operative.

The release stated that Tennyson, being from a low-middle class household and a single parent home, “learned conservative values such as his faith, the value of a dollar, and how to overcome struggles by pulling oneself up by their bootstraps and not handouts.”

Tennyson currently attends Texas State University where he is studying political science and public administration. There, he serves as the president of the campus Turning Point USA chapter.

Tennyson also serves as vice-chair of the Airport Advisory Board for San Marcos Regional Airport, an active volunteer at the Commemorative Air Force and chairman of the Hays County Young Republicans.

“As your next county commissioner, I look forward to preserving Hays County’s roots while helping it responsibly grow,” Tennyson said. “I look forward to earning the support of taxpayers in Precinct 3.”

Prior to the Republican primaries, Hays County will hold a Uniform Election on Nov. 7 for constitutional amendments and local jurisdictions.
